I completed post-graduate training at the University of Washington in Seattle and became an Adult Nurse Practitioner with national ANCC Certification in 2002. I earned a Master of Science degree from the University of California, San Francisco in 1982 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Portland with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing in 1975. For much of my professional career I worked at Stanford University Hospital and Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. I returned to Oregon in 2001 to be closer to my family. When I first arrived in Eugene, I was employed by a Bariatric surgeon. After his practice closed I worked part-time at Planned Parenthood. I joined Dr. Hirtz in July of 2003. I have a special interest in nutrition, weight management, and disease prevention. Hobbies in the past include ballroom dancing and vegetable gardening. Also, I was an avid "cat fancier" having bred, raised and exhibited a pedigree American Shorthair to a national title in 1995. I served on the Board of the Winn Feline Foundation, a charity funding veterinary research benefiting cats, from 1997 to 2002. I served on County and State animal welfare task forces in California. Currently I live in a house built in 1890 with 3 beautiful cats. Thing from the past that I recently started doing again: attending church (Unity of the Valley), dancing (Tango lessons), and exercising (Curves); and next spring I plan to start a garden! |
